Alpine CDA-7930 CD Player Head Unit

Alpine Web Site

Introduction
I chose a Alpine CDA-7930 CD Player for my signal source. I prefer knobs instead of buttons, so this narrowed my choices down quite a bit. For added security, this model has a removable face plate. Please read System Goals for information on why I moved the stock head unit to the trunk.

Before Installation
The first picture shows the stock Ford head unit. The second picture shows the left trunk. Note the water bottle and various wiring harnesses.

After Installation
1st Picture-The new Alpine head unit was installed in the stock dash location.  A faceplate was made out of MDF wood and painted black.  The head unit mounts from behind and fits flush.

2nd Picture-The water bottle was removed. Cellular phone parts and parts from behind the front kick panels were relocated to this area. The stock Ford head unit was rewired and relocated here as well.

3rd Picture-The stock head unit installed behind the trim panel in the trunk. Note the removed volume knob. It has been relocated to the arm rest next to the driver's seat.

4th Picture-Stock trim panel in place hides all modifications.

Moved Equipment
These pictures show the moved stock head unit and cellular brains that fit behind the stock trim trunk panel. Note all the new wiring harnesses that were created.
